We have had a very successful first full week all back together. We are getting used to the change to the lesson times and a number of students have told me that they really like the change.
I have been talking to students this week about the habits of successful people and that these habits will stand them in good stead beyond school. One important aspect of this has been to share our fantastic results with the students across the board, our students have some of the best results in Hampshire. The key statistic which was clear was that having attendance of 95% and above makes a massive positive difference to students grades in english, maths and science and their progress in all subjects. Attendance really does matter!
The one area a few students need to address is their punctuality to school in the morning and I would like to remind students that they should be at their tutor room door by 8:30am at the latest (there is a warning bell at 8:25am).
Students can access the library to complete homework after school Monday to Thursday until 3:45pm. I would encourage any students having difficulty organising their time to get homework completed or if they need access to a computer to make use of this facility.
Mr Peebles (Assistant Headteacher) and Mrs Carter (Assistant Headteacher) are looking forward to hosting the Year 11 Information Evening on Thursday from 6pm. I am afraid I am unable to be with you as I have to attend an engagement for my daughters school, but I look forward to seeing you at other points throughout the year.
Enjoy your weekend!

Year Group News
Year 7 - Mr Morey
Well done year 7 for making it through your first full week at The Vyne. I hope you are not too tired over the weekend! I have enjoyed watching you start your secondary school journeys this week and I was impressed to see some of you take advantage of our after school clubs. On Thursday, everyone was looking extremely smart for the school photographs although we may need some lessons on tying a tie!
Have a well deserved break over the weekend and I will see you all in assembly on Monday morning.
Year 8 - Mr Duffy
Having visited a lot of year 8 lessons this week it has been fantastic to see how well they are engaging with their lessons. The positive attitude they have returned with has been fantastic.
I would be grateful if you could talk to your child about the homework they are being set, ensuring they are recording it in their planner and then signing their planner for each Wednesday.
Year 10 - Mrs Guzzi
The year 10s have settled in really well this week. I have been hugely impressed by the effort and commitment I have seen in lessons and the dedication I have heard from the students. So many are already very excited about the prospect of work experience and visiting colleges. We had a speaker from BCOT present an assembly on Thursday where they showed the students the vast array of courses available to them, I was really impressed with the plane cabin simulation that Travel and Tourism students get to use! More colleges will be coming in with further information and college open days.
Year 11 - Mr Peebles
I am pleased to introduce myself to parents and carers as the new Head of Year 11. My role is to work with students to provide a focus on essential learning at such a vital time in their lives as they prepare for their forthcoming examinations. In particular, I want parents and carers to be assured we recognise the challenges ahead and we are here for each and every student. Finally, may I take this opportunity to invite parents to the Year 11 Parents Information Evening from 6-7pm on Thursday 19th September. Mrs Carter, Assistant Headteacher T&L and I will be taking you through essential information and ways to support your son or daughter at this crucial time. Please do come and say hello to me.
