Friday 24th April 2020

Good Afternoon,

I do hope that you and your families are safe and well. This certainly will go down in history as a very challenging time for everyone, and I know my colleagues will join me in saying how sad we are to not be in school together at the start of the summer term.

I must say though that I have been greatly heartened by the amazing collaboration between all parties in our community, students, parents and staff to try to support each other and deliver a meaningful education in these unique circumstances.

I appreciate there will be times when you are frustrated or overwhelmed and I would encourage you to seek support through the various means outlined below to help us deliver the best possible support as we all feel our way through this together. We will endeavour to help in anyway we can.

We are working hard to keep you updated on developments as regularly as possible, the school website is the best place to watch for updates, please check regularly. Below are a number of important updates on

  1. Google Classrooms NOW Live
  2. Support to Structure Home Education
  3. Key Worker and Vulnerable student in school Provision
  4. Free School Meal Voucher scheme
  5. Year 11 College Updates and GCSE Grade Awards (Repeat Information)
  6. Online safety  during “Work@Home”

1.  Google Classrooms - NOW Live

It is a great credit to all involved that we have now reached 504 students (83%) accessing their learning in Google Classroom in only a week! What an achievement from all the staff, students and parents to make this work - thank you everyone.

We recognise that there are areas to smooth out and polish to make the system work really well and will continue to respond to feedback to improve the service.

If you are having difficulties and are not currently in communication with us to resolve this, please do now get in contact either via email  or visit the school website page for help Vyne Google Classroom Help Webpage

We do not have any additional equipment to lend but are watching for further details of the government loan schemes, however we do have a number of solutions in place to ensure everyone can be working from home so please get in contact.

2. Support to Structure Home Education

The Education Endowment fund have done some fantastic work in creating resources to support parents.  The 7 Top Tips to Support Reading give some really clear guidelines on how to support your child with their work around.

The video and planning sheet for helping to plan your child's day is another really useful resource.    It is important in these times to have a balance between work and free time and the planner may help you and your child to strike a balance.  Routines can be really helpful during these unusual times to help keep some normality but flexibility is key in keeping your child motivated and maintaining their well being.

3. Key Worker and Vulnerable student in school Provision

School will continue to offer provision for the children of key workers and vulnerable students. Please ensure you tell us if you need to use this provision via the email on the thursday of the previous week to allow us to plan for staffing and ensure we can accomodate all the students who need provision. I would ask that if only one parent is a key worker you consider whether you are able to manage without accessing the in school provision to help us ensure we can support the students who have no other care options. School can be contacted on 07563 588421 between 8am to 4.30pm.

4. Free School Meal Voucher Scheme

We have been working very hard to organise the Free School Meals Vouchers in accordance with the governments’ instructions.

These should be on their way to you either via email or the post depending on the selection you made on a weekly basis. I will now assume that the arrangements you have requested remain the same as we move forward unless you contact us to request a change. If you have any concerns or questions with regards to the changes this week please contact

If you requested a “Food Box” this can be collected from school on Mondays between 8-10am.

To all of our families if you find yourselves in changing circumstances and need to access the key workers provision or free school meals please email with details of the support you would like to access.
